VALUE FOR MONEY
Our aim is to provide value for your money. We are able to do this, we hope, because:-
1. We have always embraced the "farmer's market" philosophy in our past and present businesses, encouraging direct sales and forming a lasting relationship directly with our customers. Therefore almost all of our bookings are made directly with us and we will always quote our very best prices on this, our own website. If you are booking a vacation in New Zealand through an agent and wish to stay at Adrift, you will probably need to book directly with us. Unlike most accommodation providers, we do not usually take agent bookings, particularly in our high season, as we would then need to increase our prices to allow for agent commissions. We also find communicating through a third person (the travel agent) can be problematic.
2. Adrift In Golden Bay is run almost entirely by members of our extended family (or "whanau" as it is known in Maori) who all aim to bring you the very best in personal service and most importantly, we enjoy what we do!
3. We purchased this, our family property, more than 27 years ago when waterfront properties in Golden Bay cost a fraction of their present value.
4. Over time we hope to eliminate expenses that do nothing to "add value" to to your experience but rather spend money on continuing to develop our beachfront retreat as a place which will bring relaxation, enjoyment and leave nothing but happy memories.
QUALITY
Our aim in building Adrift In Golden Bay was to have the best self-contained accommodation facilities in the Tasman/ Nelson region. We have been awarded 5 stars by Qualmark, New Zealand's official quality assurance organisation. A five star rating means-"Exceptional - amongst the best in New Zealand"
Our past guests have rated us so highly that Adrift In Golden Bay has the distinction of being the only accommodation in all of New Zealand and Australia selected for the 2011 "10 Best Romantic Hotels in the South Pacific" by the TripAdvisor
Travelers' Choice awards. (TripAdvisor is the world's largest travel site) We are proud to be recommended as one of the author's favourites (indicated by an orange runner) by the latest edition of the famous guidebook Rough Guides to New Zealand.
We are also the only Golden Bay accommodation to feature in The Greenwood Guide of hand-picked accommodation in New Zealand.
SEASONAL DISCOUNTS AND LONGER STAY DISCOUNTS
Shoulder Season - Now until mid-December 2011 - approximately 30% discount on the cottage rate and 20% on studio rate, plus an additional discount of approximately 10% is given on stays of 7 days or more.High Season - Mid-December until Easter 2012- a discount of roughly 10% is given on stays of 7 days or longer.Shoulder Season - After Easter 2012 to end of April 2012 - approximately 30% discount on the cottage rate and 20% on studio rate, plus an additional discount of approximately 10% is given on stays of 7 days or more.Low Season - May 2012 until September 2012 - almost 50% discount on the cottage rate and 30% on studio rate, plus an additional discount of approximately 10% is given on stays of 7 days or more. Some dates in our "low season" will not be showing any availability until we have decided when we are closing for our own holidays.
Our booking system will calculate room rates for the dates you request automatically allowing for these discounts.
BOOKING RESTRICTIONS
Some dates have a minimum stay requirement, as the date gets closer this requirement is reduced so that usually within the last 7- 14 days we accept 1 night bookings.If you wish to stay for a shorter time and cannot make a booking, please e-mail us by clicking here or "send us an enquiry" from the link on the booking page, we can then advise you if and when a shorter booking might be possible. We respond to ALL e-mails, usually within 12 hours.Shorter stays may be slightly more expensive to allow for the extra cleaning cost involved. Our aim is to provide you with a tranquil and relaxed environment. We therefore only accept children 12 years of age and over, the cost is the same as an adult guest.
We do not allow dogs or other pets in any of accommodation. Good kennel facilities are available in Golden Bay for those travelling with pets that wish to stay.Christmas Day- We don't have check-in, check out or servicing of the cottages on Christmas Day. We are a family run business and as such like to spend time together on Christmas Day (our one day off in the middle of our busy season). Please also note that travelling in New Zealand on Christmas Day is more difficult; almost all cafes and even most supermarkets and petrol stations are closed on Christmas Day!
COTTAGES
The cottages cost between NZ$195 and NZ$490 per night depending on the season, length of stay and which cottage. For an instant quote on a cottage stay, click the following link to go to our Tariff calculatorThe rate quoted includes use of the laundry, kayaks, your own gas barbecue and a hamper of provisions for either a continental or a cooked breakfast for each morning of your stay.The cottages are designed as a luxury accommodation for two but can accommodate an extra person sleeping on a comfortable pull-out couch settee in the living room. The cost for the extra guest is NZ$80/night, this includes extra food in the breakfast hamper.
STUDIO
The cost of our studio for two people varies between NZ$175 and NZ$290 per night depending on the time of year and length of stay. NOTES ON PRICES
Prices are in New Zealand dollars. We reserve the right to increase or decrease future prices from those originally posted but the price charged will always be the one given at the time of your booking.
Prices include New Zealand Goods and Services Tax (GST) of 15%.Tipping is not common practice in New Zealand, "Thank you" is all that is expected even for exceptional service. |
